Laudio and AONL Report Outlines Early Warning System to Predict and Prevent Nurse Burnout

BOSTON, MA, October 7, 2025 – Laudio and the American Organization for Nursing Leadership (AONL) today released their Fall 2025 report, An Early Warning System for Nurse Burnout: Metrics and Strategies. Based on an analysis of a national workforce dataset of 95,000 nurses and their managers across more than 150 hospitals, the report introduces the first framework to predict nurse burnout through quantifiable workplace indicators rather than subjective surveys. It identifies eight burnout predictors for nursing teams, providing hospitals and health systems with actionable metrics and proven interventions.

AHA Names New Trustee to the Board

The American Hospital Association (AHA) has elected Eric Fish, MD, MBA, FACOG, President and CEO of Schneck in Seymour, Ind., to fill a vacancy on its Board of Trustees for a term effective immediately and ending Dec. 31, 2026. The Board of Trustees is the highest policymaking body of the AHA and has ultimate authority for the governance and management of its direction and finances.

AONL Announces New Board President Elect and Directors for 2026

Chicago (Aug. 15, 2025) - The American Organization for Nursing Leadership membership elected Stuart Downs, DNP, RN, as the 2026 president-elect of the AONL Board of Directors. Downs will assume the presidency Jan. 1, 2028, leading the national membership organization whose strategic focus is excellence in nursing leadership.

The American Hospital Association’s (AHA) Next Generation Leaders Fellowship, focused on empowering leaders to bring about real and lasting change in health care, announced its latest class of fellows consisting of 36 individuals, including 12 Age-Friendly Fellows supported by The John A. Hartford Foundation. In addition, three Fellows are from state hospital associations.

Gassen will be Chair-elect in 2026 and become the 2027 Chair of the AHA, the top-elected official of the national organization that represents America’s hospitals and health systems and works to advance health in America.
